Studyladder

Today the students received their Studyladder logins (which they keep in the back of their Maths books.  This site is great for students to practice their skills in key curriculum areas and have fun whilst doing it!  Take a look through with your child and feel free to come in and ask any questions about it.  I have set some relevant Mathematics tasks to get the students started.

Senior School Singing

On Fridays at 12.30pm an amazing sound rings out across Te Aroha, it comes from the lounge in Room 3 where we host Senior Syndicate Singing with the students from the students from the other senior classes.
I was surprised to hear the students of Room 3 tell me last before our first singing that they "don't like singing". I'm pretty sure they have changed their minds now they have experienced what senior school singing is all about!

Colourful Names

Room 3 have started an art project with Mrs Horan which will display their names in an exciting, colourful way.  Here are some pictures of us working on them.  Watch this space, we will post again when they are finished!

Mihi

In Room 3 we have been learning how to say and write our Mihi.  These involve individuals standing to introduce themselves by sharing their whakapapa (genealogy, ancestral ties) and other relevant information. It is important for Māori to know and to share their whakapapa - to know one’s whakapapa is to know one’s identity.

Check out the latest foyer display that showcases our learning!

Creating our Class Treaty

Today the students in Room 3 discussed the principles underpinning the Treaty of Waitangi:
  • Governance
  • Self Management
  • Equality
  • Cooperation
  • Redress
We looked at how these principles can play a part in our Class Treaty to create a learning environment we are all happy to work in.

Welcome to 2015!

Welcome back all.  Mrs Corrigan and Mrs Horan are very excited to be taking over in Room 3. Today was a great first day for all Room 3 students who are adapting to the new routines fantastically.  Today, the students set up their own blog accounts and we look forward to bringing you links to the student's personal learning blogs very soon.  Keep checking in over the next few weeks!
